Najla:
My husband and I have been married for two years. Alhamdulillah. Masha
Allah.

Ibrahim:
She made me put on a thobe for this one. She said..she said, I couldn't wear no army fatigues.

Najla:
He's a gentleman.

Ibrahim:
This is our marriage poem, it's called Circle of Trust. Like she said, we've been married for two years and one month insha
Allah. September.

Najla:
This month. Alhamdulillah.

Ibrahim:
i know marriage is about trust

Najla:
and trust is the law

Ibrahim:
but i can't give you my trust

Najla:
until you first put your trust

Together:
in Allah
and i've got questions

Ibrahim:
i need you to tell me who you are
where from do you come
and was it faith in Him
that led you this far

Najla:
i come from the rib of Adam (as)
travelled to this world from Eden
it is no accident that i have fallen
everything happens for a reason
i carry the legacy of woman
my purpose is set in stone
Allah created me to worship Him
and to worship Him alone
i was sent to (indistinct) nations
enlighten minds and (indistinct) generations
my name is Najla Ruqayyah
i am the empress of inspiration
now tell me who are you
and why
are you here?

Ibrahim:
i'm in search of a companion
one who can stand the journey
cause this life is like a candy filled with echoes at the lonely
and somewhere in the noise
i can hear the pounding of a heart
it said my prayers would be answered
that my soul has a counter part
my kingdom is underground
a city made of stone
Islam is my crown
and wisdom is my throne
my life has been reading like the lyrics to a song
my name
is Ibrahim
i am the prince of the poem

Together:
i've waited a thousand sunsets

Najla:
warded off impostors of the moon
listen to the winds resonate whispers of a worthy (indistinct) coming soon
determined not to be consumed by the temptation of frustration never touched me
because he has no regret of being patient
i felt his presence
like a promise so i waited
never finding use for the doubt in (indistinct)
i feed myself truth to the stuck to the roof of my mouth

Ibrahim:
they were chapters
(indistinct) like fences
preventing me from covering the distance
so focused on finding my wife
it was as if nothing else existed
staggering through the mist and distractions
i was drifting looking for love
but it was as if the path had been hidden
feeling like a mans other half was missing
cause marriage had not found me yet
and its half of my religion
i read

Najla:
i recited

Ibrahim:
i wrote

Najla:
and i wept

Ibrahim:
we (indistinct) the Lord before resting

Najla:
and he worked while i slept

Ibrahim:
empress
is there anything you seek that hasn't found you yet

Najla:
i want to be encircled in trust until it takes control of my every step
and witness two souls come together and sing
the most beautiful duet

Ibrahim:
so let us circumambulate upon the surface of our faith in the most perfect answer (indistinct) this earth has ever faced

Together:
we
are not here by chance

Ibrahim:
only by His grace
many stories came before you
and tried to fill your place
but i listened to my heart
and it told me i should wait

Together:
i did not know love

Najla:
only the examples of the Believers

Ibrahim:
it was Ibrahim (as) and Hajar (r.a)

Najla:
Muhammad (pbuh) and Khadijah (r.a)

Ibrahim:
they taught us how to sacrifice

Najla:
how to support our leaders

Ibrahim:
they showed us the type of discipline it takes to become over achievers

Najla:
so i would never ask anyone to duplicate their success
but to learn from the lessons and strive to do your best

Together:
i know you

Najla:
you come from the legends of old and even before i met you
i recognised your soul

Ibrahim:
i've revolved around you for ages and seeing
seeing your face in my dreams
only to wake from them aching with no trace of my queen
see life without a wife
and the frustration it brings
being pulled around the world
like a puppet on strings
for what it's worth
i spent 26 years in my searching half the world wonders and all four corners of the earth
but not until now
did i discover the beauty of the universe
and i am winded from the journey
don't know how much longer i can stay
but it would really be an honour
if you would join me along the way

Najla:
can you promise me that you will always strive to focus on Allah
maintain a loyal heart and only be who you are
there's purpose in your linage
you are evidence that all men don't walk in shame
i have seen your spirit reflected in the stories of believers
there is no coincidence that Ibrahim is his name
there was a secret in my smile that others couldn't see
a portrait of you in my heart's memory
you were the reason behind every known proof that waiting is often the key

Together:
and we
are an epic love story yet to be told

Najla:
so i need you to know
it would be an honour to walk with you down life's road

Ibrahim:
life's road
